Title: “Clearing the Confusion: God’s Truth vs. Man’s Misunderstanding”
Key Scripture: John 8:31–32 – “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
1. “The Bible is too complicated to understand.”
Misconception:
Only pastors, scholars, or specially anointed people can understand Scripture.
Truth:
God is not a God of confusion. He gave us His Word to reveal, not to hide. The Bible is deep, yes—but not unreachable.
Key Scriptures:
- 1 Corinthians 14:33 – God is not the author of confusion.
- Psalm 119:105 – His Word is a lamp to our feet.
- 2 Timothy 3:16–17 – Scripture equips all believers.
- Matthew 18:3 – The gospel is simple enough for a child to receive.
Reflection Question:
Have I treated the Bible like it’s too hard to understand, instead of seeking the Spirit’s help to read it?
2. “I can’t love everyone—especially the ones I arrest.”
Misconception:
Love is a feeling, or agreement with someone’s actions.
Truth:
Biblical love is not emotional—it’s a decision to act with patience, mercy, and the hope of redemption. It desires the good of others, even when they don’t deserve it.
Key Scriptures:
- Matthew 5:44 – Love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you.
- 1 Corinthians 13 – Love is patient, kind… it keeps no record of wrongs.
- 2 Peter 3:9 – God doesn’t want anyone to perish.
Reflection Question:
Am I only loving the people I like—or am I willing to love the hard people, the broken people, and even my enemies?
3. “I don’t need church—I take God with me.”
Misconception:
Church is optional if I have a personal relationship with God.
Truth:
Yes, God is everywhere—but He commands us to gather together. The Church is not a building; it’s a community that shapes us, strengthens us, and grows us together.
Key Scriptures:
- Hebrews 10:24–25 – Don’t neglect gathering together.
- Matthew 18:20 – Where two or three are gathered, He is there.
- Acts 2:42 – The early church was devoted to fellowship and teaching.
Reflection Question:
Have I treated the church like an optional part of my faith? What needs to change in how I commit to the Body of Christ?
Closing Challenge
- Be patient with those who are spiritually confused or misled.
- Be prepared to give a biblical answer—with gentleness and truth.
- Be honest with yourself—have you accepted any of these same lies without realizing it?
Final Scripture
John 8:31–32 –
