1. Summary of Adam’s Story
• Adam was created directly by God from the dust of the ground and given life through God’s own breath (Genesis 2:7).
• He was placed in the Garden of Eden to work and keep it, with only one command to obey (Genesis 2:15-17).
• God created Eve from Adam’s rib to be his partner and helper (Genesis 2:22).
• Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the forbidden tree, introducing sin and death into the world (Genesis 3:6-7).
• After their sin, Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden but not abandoned—God clothed them and promised a future Redeemer (Genesis 3:15, 21).
• Adam’s descendants inherited sin’s curse, but through his lineage would eventually come Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world (Romans 5:12-19).

2. How Adam Points to Jesus
• Adam’s disobedience brought death; Jesus’ obedience brings life (Romans 5:19).
• Adam’s sin separated humanity from God; Jesus reconciles us back to the Father (2 Corinthians 5:18).
• Adam’s covering hinted at the need for blood to cover sin, fulfilled in Christ (Hebrews 9:22).
• Adam’s offspring carried the curse; Jesus, born of a woman, came to crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15; Galatians 4:4-5).
• Adam was the head of the old creation; Jesus is the head of the new creation (1 Corinthians 15:22).

3. What God Is Teaching Us Through Adam’s Life
• Sin begins when we doubt God’s Word and His goodness (Genesis 3:1).
• Disobedience always brings real consequences (Romans 6:23).
• Blame-shifting doesn’t heal anything—only honest confession does (Genesis 3:12-13).
• Even in judgment, God’s mercy is already at work (Genesis 3:15).
• Our hope is not in ourselves but in the Savior God promised and provided (Romans 5:18).

4. Reflection Questions

  1. Where in your life are you tempted to doubt God’s Word or goodness?
  2. Are there any areas where you’ve been trying to cover your sin instead of confessing it?
  3. How does knowing that God pursues you even after failure change how you view Him?
  4. What does it mean to you that God planted the hope of Jesus immediately after the first sin?
  5. How can you live with deeper gratitude for the grace offered through Christ?

5. Personal Reflection Challenge
Take time this week to reflect honestly before God about any areas where you have been hiding, blaming, or doubting.
