Current Events, Biblical Prophecy, and the Urgency of the Church

I. The Present Conflict

A. Israel’s Preemptive Strike on Iran

  • Date: June 13, 2025 – Operation Rising Lion
  • Context: Day 61 after Trump’s 60-day warning to Iran.
  • Targets: Iran’s nuclear facilities (Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan), IRGC commanders, and nuclear scientists.
  • Purpose: Prevent Iran from reaching nuclear weapons capability.

B. Why This Matters

  • Iran is the chief sponsor of global terror, funding Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
  • Uses proxy groups to wage war indirectly.
  • Their chant “Death to Israel, Death to America” is not rhetoric—it’s doctrine.
  • Psalm 83:4 – “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation…”

II. Spiritual and Political Realities

A. Iran’s Regime and Religious Agenda

  • Iran is ruled by radical Islamic leaders driven by jihadist eschatology.
  • Their motivation is not political—it’s demonic.
  • Ephesians 6:12 – We wrestle not against flesh and blood…
  • In the shadows, God is moving—a powerful underground church is growing inside Iran.
  • 2 Timothy 2:9 – “The Word of God is not bound.”

B. The Spirit of Hamas

  • Hamas is a Hebrew word: Genesis 6:11–13 = “violence.”
  • Before the flood, the earth was filled with ḥāmās.
  • Hamas today is a spirit of jihadism and anti-God rebellion.
  • Funded by Iran, inspired by darkness.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:7 – “The mystery of lawlessness is already at work.”

III. Just War and Israel’s Right to Defend Itself

A. Biblical and Practical Defense

  • Analogy: hostile neighbor building a bomb—at some point, you must act.
  • Israel is not acting in aggression but in survival.
  • Iran’s proxies have already invaded and taken hostages.
  • Proverbs 22:3 – The prudent sees danger and hides himself.

B. Moral Clarity

  • Iran doesn’t seek peace—it seeks apocalyptic war.
  • Their goal: trigger Armageddon through nuclear destruction.
  • Ecclesiastes 3:8 – There is a time for war and a time for peace.
  • A nuclear-armed Iran would fulfill their eschatological goal.

IV. Iran in Biblical Prophecy

A. Ancient Names in Scripture

  • Persia = modern-day Iran
  • Also referred to as Elam (Jeremiah 49:34–39)
  • Appears in Daniel, Esther, Isaiah, Nehemiah
  • Daniel 10:13 speaks of the “prince of Persia”—a spiritual entity.

B. “New Days, Old Demons”

  • Different governments, same demonic hatred of Israel.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:4 – “The god of this world has blinded…”
  • The same spirit behind Haman in Esther’s day is at work today.

V. Islamic Eschatology vs. Christian Eschatology

A. Islam’s End Times Beliefs

  • Expect a Mahdi who will conquer the world for Islam.
  • Goal: establish global Sharia law through jihad.
  • Theology: “Convert or die.”
  • Death in jihad = eternal reward.

B. Parallels and Conflicts

  • The Mahdi of Islam resembles the Antichrist of the Bible.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4 – the man of lawlessness sets himself up as god.
  • Islam’s view of end times mirrors biblical prophecy in reverse.
  • Revelation 17:14 – The Lamb will conquer them.

VI. The Abrahamic Covenant at Stake

A. Genesis 12 and 15 Promises

  • God promises land, lineage, and legacy through Isaac and Jacob—not Ishmael.
  • Genesis 17:7 – “An everlasting covenant.”
  • Israel’s existence is proof of God’s faithfulness.

B. Islam’s Counterclaim

  • Islam teaches the covenant belongs to Ishmael.
  • Belief fuels the drive to erase Israel and seize the land.
  • Psalm 105:8–11 – God gave the land of Canaan as an inheritance forever.

VII. The Gog and Magog War

A. Ezekiel 38–39 and Revelation 16:16

  • Nations from Russia, Iran, Turkey, Sudan, Ethiopia unite to invade Israel.
  • Ezekiel 38:12 – They come to plunder and loot.
  • Revelation calls it Armageddon.

B. Spiritual and Global Implications

  • A satanic coalition rises to destroy God’s covenant people.
  • Ezekiel 38:23 – God will show His greatness and holiness.
  • Ends in Christ’s return—Zechariah 14:4, Revelation 19
  • Jesus doesn’t just defend Israel—He destroys darkness and establishes His Kingdom.

VIII. The Return of Christ

A. Jesus as Warrior King (Revelation 19)

  • No longer the suffering servant—He returns in glory and judgment.
  • Revelation 19:11–16 – Riding a white horse, robe dipped in blood.
  • Destroys the beast and his armies.

B. Fulfillment of His Prayer

  • Matthew 6:10 – “Thy kingdom come…”
  • Revelation 21:2–3 – The New Jerusalem descends.
  • Heaven and earth are reunited. The King reigns forever.

IX. What This Might Mean Right Now

A. Could This Be the Trigger?

  • We may be watching the early stages of the Gog/Magog alignment.
  • The exact nations are in motion.
  • Luke 21:28 – “When these things begin to take place…”

B. Or Could This Be a Warning Shot?

  • This could be a flash without a full explosion—a divine wake-up call.
  • 2 Peter 3:9 – God is patient, not wanting any to perish.
  • Even warnings are mercy. Are we listening?

X. Our Response

A. Don’t Panic—Prepare

  • Luke 21:28 – Lift your head. Your redemption is near.
  • This isn’t fear—it’s focus.

B. Pray for the Church in Iran and Israel

  • Believers are underground, under siege, and under pressure.
  • Pray for boldness, protection, and endurance.

C. Stand with Israel Spiritually and Biblically

  • Not political loyalty—covenantal clarity.
  • Genesis 12:3 – Bless those who bless you.

D. Share the Gospel—Time May Be Short

  • The window is narrowing. The world is shaking.
  • Romans 13:11 – The hour has come to wake from sleep.
  • Let people know: Jesus saves now—but He returns soon.

Closing Charge:

This is not just history in motion—it’s prophecy in progress.
The headlines are catching up with Scripture.
The Church must be watching, witnessing, and waiting—
not in fear, but in faith.

Jesus is coming. Are you ready? Are they?
