I’m Scott Marshall, the pastor of Northern Light Church. I’ve only recently been given that honor, but the road that brought me here wasn’t clean or easy. I used to be known as Scott Marshall the drunk and Scott Marshall the felon. Over time, by God’s grace, I became Scott Marshall the husband, father, and business owner. And now Scott Marshall the pastor. That is how God works!
For the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in the Roscommon County Jail Ministry — and it was there that God began reshaping my calling and preparing me for the pulpit. I know firsthand what it feels like to live with guilt and shame, to hit rock bottom, and to wonder if there’s a place left for you in God’s plan.
That’s why I’ve started Pathway to Purpose Ministry through Northern Light Church — a Monday night service designed to help men and women with “more public sins” find belonging, healing, and faith again. It’s a space where no one needs to hide their past, where fear of judgment is replaced by the truth of grace.
If we’re still breathing, then God isn’t done with us. No matter where you’ve been, He still has a purpose for your life — and I’m living proof of that.

A Safe Place to Begin Again

Pathway to Purpose is a Monday evening service created for men and women who have walked difficult roads — those rebuilding life after incarceration, addiction, or past mistakes. It’s a place to experience fellowship and the presence of Jesus without judgment or pressure.
This ministry offers a comfortable environment for individuals who may feel out of place in a traditional church setting. There are no children present, making it a safe and appropriate space for anyone with restrictions to attend freely and begin growing in faith again.
Purpose:
The purpose of Pathway to Purpose is to help people move from their past into God’s plan for their future. Every service is designed to break through the barriers of shame, guilt, and fear — and replace them with hope, healing, and purpose found in Christ.
Each gathering includes:
- Fellowship: Connection and encouragement among others who understand the journey.
- Worship: Real, authentic praise that reminds us who God is and who we can become through Him.
- Message: Biblical teaching that speaks directly to rebuilding, redemption, and new life.
- Mentorship: Presence of trusted church members ready to listen, guide, and walk alongside each person as they grow in faith.
Pathway to Purpose is where the past loses its power and new life begins — every Monday at 7 PM.
Everyone is welcome at Northern Light Church for all our services and activities. Pathway to Purpose is a focused Monday-night space for those who don’t feel ready to step into the larger crowd yet—especially anyone navigating the shame of the past, legal restrictions, or the fear of being judged. There are no children present, and trusted mentors are on hand to walk with you. If you’re not ready for everything, start here.
