Church family and friends, we are asking for urgent prayer for Chaplain Bill Thompson and his wife as they walk through a very heavy season.
According to his wife, Bill had an appointment this morning that revealed a mass on his upper right lung roughly the size of a golf ball, along with involvement in lymph nodes in his chest. A biopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. A spot was also found on his spine, and they are still waiting to learn whether that is related or something separate. There are still many unknowns, and that uncertainty alone is a heavy burden.
Chaplain Bill is not just a faithful servant—he is someone who personally opened the door for me into the Roscommon County Jail Ministry, trusting me and giving me the privilege to step into that work. Because of his obedience and faithfulness, many lives have been reached with the gospel.
Please lift up Bill’s health, the doctors and medical team, and his wife, who is walking beside him through this situation. Pray for peace, strength, clarity, and for God’s presence to be unmistakably near in this battle.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You humbled, trusting, and in need of Your mercy. You are the Great Physician, the One who formed our bodies and knows every cell, every breath, and every weakness long before we ever feel it.
Lord, we lift up Chaplain Bill to You. You have used his life to bring light into dark places, hope into despair, and truth into hearts that needed it. We ask now for Your healing hand to rest upon him. Give wisdom and clarity to the doctors as they perform tests and biopsies. Let what is hidden be revealed clearly, and let every decision be guided by Your sovereign will.
Lord, we also lift up his wife, Natalie. Strengthen her heart. Carry her when the weight feels overwhelming. Give her peace that surpasses understanding, even in the waiting, even in the unknown. Let her feel Your nearness in quiet moments and Your strength when fear tries to rise.
Lord, surround this family with prayer, support, and reminders that they are not walking this road alone. Whether through healing, endurance, or comfort, may Your glory be revealed, and may their faith be anchored deeply in You.
We trust You, not because the situation is easy—but because You are faithful.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
