1. Summary of Joseph’s Story
- Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel, was deeply loved by his father but hated by his brothers (Genesis 37:3-4).
- Betrayed and sold for twenty shekels of silver (Genesis 37:28).
- Falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and imprisoned, but remained faithful (Genesis 39:20-23).
- Interpreted dreams in prison, but was forgotten by the cupbearer (Genesis 40:23).
- Later interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams and was exalted to second-in-command over Egypt (Genesis 41:41).
- Provided food during famine, saving many lives, including his own family.
- Forgave his brothers and recognized God’s greater plan (Genesis 50:20).
2. How Joseph Points to Jesus
- Loved by the Father, rejected by his own (Genesis 37:3-4; John 1:11).
- Betrayed for silver (Genesis 37:28; Matthew 26:14-15).
- Falsely accused yet silent and faithful (Genesis 39:20; Isaiah 53:7).
- Exalted after suffering to save others (Genesis 41:41; Philippians 2:8-9).
