Look — it’s impossible to look around at this world and not see that God is the great designer. Just stop and think about it: from the complexity of your own body to the vastness of the universe, God’s fingerprints are everywhere. And He is no fool. His creation isn’t random, and neither are you.
God gives life and He takes life — that’s clear. Job 1:21 reminds us plainly: “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” So if you’re still breathing right now, that means one thing: you’re here on purpose, for a purpose. God isn’t keeping you around for no reason.
But here’s the problem: most people don’t live like that’s true. Instead of asking “God, why am I still here? What do You want from me today?” we spend our time chasing what we think we want — comfort, security, money, popularity, success — making plans for a future we aren’t even guaranteed to have.
James 4:14 hits that head-on: “What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” You might think you have years ahead of you, but you don’t know that. You don’t even know if you’ll finish today.
And yet, we fill our minds with plans: vacations, careers, retirement. We chase what we think will satisfy, ignoring the One who gives us breath in the first place.
Listen, Ephesians 2:10 says this about you: “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
In other words: you’re His handiwork, not your own. You don’t get to define your purpose — God already did.
So stop wasting time acting like your life is yours to figure out or yours to control. If you’re here, it’s because God still has something He’s calling you to do. Whether it feels small or big doesn’t matter — it matters to Him.
You’re not promised tomorrow. That’s why Proverbs 19:21 is such a good reminder: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
The question you should be asking is simple: “Why did God wake me up today?” Because if there’s breath in your lungs, there’s purpose on your life. Period.
So stop chasing empty plans that might not even last the week. Start living in the purpose He has for you today.
Take a deep breath. See? You have breath — so you have purpose. Live like it.
