Key Scriptures — In Order of Use
Nehemiah 4:14 — Anchor verse. Read at top, return in Section 2 and closing.
Nehemiah 4:2–3 — Sanballat and Tobiah’s mockery of the feeble Jews and the fox.
Nehemiah 6:16 — Surrounding nations afraid; perceived the work was accomplished with God’s help.
Nehemiah 7:3 — Specific gate instructions — sustainability and vigilance after the victory.
Nehemiah 8:8 — They read clearly and gave the sense so the people understood.
Nehemiah 10:39 — ‘We will not neglect the house of our God.’
Nehemiah 12:43 — Great joy at the wall dedication; heard far away.
Nehemiah 13:22 — ‘Remember me, O my God, for good.’
Esther 3:8 — Haman’s accusation to the king against the Jewish people.
Esther 4:14 — Mordecai: ‘Who knows whether you have not come for such a time as this?’
Galatians 6:9 — Do not grow weary of doing good; in due season we will reap.
Intro: The wall-building pace of Nehemiah sets up the sermon well — establish the opposition pattern early.
Section 2 (4:14): This is the emotional and theological center. Don’t rush the two-command structure — remember and fight.
Section 4 (Word / Weeping): The weeping over the Word is powerful. Let the contrast between wall-building drama and quiet Scripture reading land.
Section 7 (Esther): The shift from God’s name being present to absent is worth naming explicitly — it creates engagement.
Closing: Galatians 6:9 ties the perseverance theme into the New Testament and makes it personal. Drive it home directly.
